20lbs lost since January. Woohoo!
I know it doesn't sound like much, considering that it took me six months to pull it off, but I'm kinda psyched about it! Somehow the aches and pains from yesterday's workout seem like badges of honor or something when you actually lose weight.
Also,
latech canned peach preserves yesterday, with peaches from the tree in our backyard. When we moved into the Texas rental house last year we were pleased to discover two peach trees in the back that produced fruit, but they hadn't gotten much water during the renovation by the owner of the house and the fruit was too hard to eat. My intrepid roomie researched how to grow peaches and religiously watered the tree closest to the house all year and this year we ended up with a pretty good crop. At first we thought that they were still too hard to eat, but we found that they ripened better off the tree (hey, it's a learning process!) and had some sitting in a bowl for almost two weeks now.
What I noticed is how different they smelled from store bought peaches. There was that underlying peach scent that was familiar, but on top of that was this floral note that was awesome but totally unlike what I thought peaches should smell like. When I got my first taste of the fruit last night, I was blown away by how good it tasted. Sweet and rich, peachy but like a bouquet of blossoms too. Oh my goodness - simply mind blowing! I hope the preserves turned out just as awesome as the raw fruit, but even if they lose a little in the translation, I'm sure it'll still be some damn fine jam.
I wonder if this is just a magical peach tree or if this is what peaches are supposed to taste like?
