I'm not talking about Michael or Farah or even Ed. She called herself Sissy and she did Musical Theater.
I learned to waltz, to put a costume together without a pattern, to create the perfect ringlets ala Shirley Temple, and to sing to an impressive three octave range. While I don't sing on the stage anymore, I thought she was very cool. She helped to instill my love all Christmas carols and was the first person to let me use my composed music on stage.
Every year she would put on a fantastic cabaret with the creme de la creme of high school and every year the sound would be awful and the singers would be wonderful and terrible, but the audience generally had a great, if not shiny great, time.
While she was the queen of snob at times, she did put on a good show.
She won the battle against breast cancer a few years ago, but couldn't shake ovarian cancer. I will always remember her as a great lady.
