derby last night fricken ROCKED!
we scrimmaged against the Mods for 2 twenty minute periods, and it was a very close game. we started out ahead, then they came back and were beating us, and we ended up winning just by a few points. they're the team we're playing at the exhibition bout on APRIL 23rd (OMgoodnessi'mtoooodamnexcited!)
i got battered around harder than i have before- my few weeks out of things in combination with girls getting stronger and blocking way harder.
i have a huge bruise on my right thigh, from the skate wheel of one of their new girls who kept falling in my path.
i jammed twice, and did pretty well the first time, though i felt out of it with my blocking and timing and focus on the game. the second time, literally a second before the whistle was blown to end the jam, i got blocked HARD by this girl who i really wasn't expecting it from. (i guess that's what happens when i get too cocky... i had also talked a lot of smack to this particular player before the jam)
i flew out of bounds to the outside of the track, and came down on my right knee, but twisted slightly out to the right of my leg, instead of straight down on the knee pad. i also think my pads moved a little bit from the aforementioned collision with the other girl's skate. i'm still icing my knee, and there's a tiny bruise just above my knee on the outside of my leg. it's tender, and i'm taking ibuprofin and resting it. i hope it's nothing serious. i'm limping around, 'cause it doesn't feel good to bend it while bearing weight.
tonight at seder i'll ask my dad to look at it and see what he thinks.
my health insurance has officially run out, post-fellowship.
yipes.
i need to find a job with insurance soooon.
