Well; we had an eventful day in London, we stopped for lunch on the way and then met loads of traffic on the way to the hotel.
It was there the receptionist told us there had been a system error and we should not have been given an accessible room for that date as it had already been taken.
He took some time looking on the computer before telling us we could have a family room for the same price if it would suit, so we go up to the tenth floor to see how it would be for the wheelchairs, (before going up in the lift Viki had loudly called out, you should give us breakfast too) and they did.
The room was just about manageable so the girls got the luggage from the car then went to check their room while we had a drink.
I’d asked at the desk how long it would take to get to the Albert Hall and was told about 10 to 15 minutes so once we were all changed and ready we went down to the car at 10 past 6. By this time it was raining quite hard and I suppose we really should have expected lots of traffic, anyway we arrived at the car park for which we had a concessionary ticket and was directed where to park.
Viki went towards the kerb and then went to reverse to maneuver in….nothing, the gear box was not working. All had Visions of being stranded, but we all agreed we would go in to the concert, only a few minutes late.
Cathy though went out and called the RAC, I always have my card in the car, and I do have home and rescue.
I think the man turned up about half an hour later took Cathy’s mobile number which she put on to vibrate so she could come back in.. H e took 45 mins and luckily it was a cable in the gear box not the whole gear box, so he said drive with care to the hotel and home the following day, but then into the garage before using it again.
The Concert
The film was absolutely brilliant; the clarity of the pictures was so perfect.
And the London Philharmonic Orchestra was also briliant along with the choir and soloists.
As we got into our positions the camera pans onto Legolas, Viki then bashed my arm and raised her eyebrows suggestively at me (do you think she knows).
All in all it was a great night and as I was in better health this time I was able to take it all in.
(We never got to see Howard Shore though what with the worry of the car and getting back to the hotel) but we made it, and then home the following morning.
Was going to post a few ROTK pics but I'll have to try later when photobucket is behaving better.
