the one with avoiding structuralist theory

Do you know what is more boring than turning up to uni four days before Christmas while everyone else you know is doing awesome cool things on holidays? Reading about structuralist theory.

Yeah. It's just that great. Found out that my uni has some link to this ARC thing based in U of WA and that my supervisor is like, heavily involved in it or something. It's about the HISTORY OF EMOTIONS which is just so insanely airy-fairy (and does not involve psychologists apparently) that I'll of course have to get involved. Plus there's like 24.something-a-rather MILLION dollars in funding for it over the next 7 years. This makes me wonder, why the bollocks does the Australian government like funding things like the HISTORY OF EMOTIONS but not things that might, you know, have some sliiiightly more "useful" outcomes. Oh well. I guess I should just be happy that something as lunatic sounding as this could get such funding and whatevs.

I may end up messing with people's minds on Christmas.

Family person: So what are you doing at uni again?
Me: the HISTORY OF EMOTIONS.
Family person: O_o.

Heck, I think I just like saying the HISTORY OF EMOTIONS. You know, right, if I was out doing something more interesting than procrastinating about stupid structuralist theory that y'all'd not be reading some crazy post about random junk that is oddly diverting to me but probably no one else in the WORLD cares.

being stupid, being awesome, phd
