the one with medical bollocks and a tiny bit of honours at the end

You know, sometimes I do actually intend to write a non-whiny LJ entry. Sometimes I contemplate writing about how surprisingly nice the walk is to the uni. But alas, I never remember to. So this is another "omg the world hates me" post. Sorry.

So. My left ear deafness has gotten worse. I had another hearing test yesterday, and apparently I have lost as much hearing over five months as people with the condition that I might have usually lose in five YEARS. So I have to have this weird other test where they put some minute wire into your ear and play clicking noises in your ear. Go me. I get fitted with a hearing aid next Friday. That's not something I actually ever considered having to do. Possibly will have to upgrade to a super expensive hearing aid though, which is bollocks, because they cost as much as a new acoustic Yamaha piano. Or, you know, if I HAVE this possible disease/condition/whatever, have to fork out $30 a DAY for pills. So I don't go AS deaf in one ear.

Doctor: So the good news is, you don't have Multiple Sclerosis, according to our tests.
Me: Good. Because that'd be freaking ironic.
Doctor: How so?
Me: My mother has it.
Doctor: Oh.
(For those who don't know, MS hasn't been proven to be genetic, but I mean, known facts about MS are pretty few and far in between, so who knows).
Doctor: Your DNA is also completely normal. So we can't find anything wrong with you, aside from the deafness.

Sigh. I really just want it all to just sod off. And I'm hungry. However, it does seem writing it out has helped a bit.

On a brighter note, have chosen my thesis topic for honours next year. Already have an awesome supervisor, and she's been helping me do a bit of preliminary research this week. ^_^ Yay for academia, it rarely fails me.

deafness, expensive medical stuff, freaking doctors, sam, ugh, thesis
