the one with a migraine and some added boredom
Man today was made of fail. Firstly, I didn't get to go and visit the lovely pianos as I had wanted, because it was excessively hot. Sounds like a cop-out doesn't it. But it wasn't. It was just really really hot and I couldn't convince Bob to drive me there.
Secondly, Soundwave was bollocks. There were just so many people there. I haven't been to a festival in...well, five or six years? I only was in the Riverstage part, and there was just this unbelievable mass of people. The entire Riverstage was completely and utterly packed. That freaked me out a bit, because AHHH THERE'S A MILLION PEOPLE and the social anxiety thing. So I ended up only seeing Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Alexisonfire and Thursday. After Thursday finished I just left though I'd only been there for about two hours. Thursday were good though I would really have preferred to see them in a regular setting. They played the songs I wanted to hear (though they finished their set 30 minutes early). Alexisonfire were so-so. I saw them last year and in my opinion today's effort was below par. Their main vocalist was out of tune in a few songs. But there I am being picky again.
Three Things I Learned Today (that I'll hopefully remember):
1. Going to festivals by yourself is a bad thing. Drunk/stoned men will harass you.
2. I'm never going to a festival again. If, the Decemberists were playing at a festival and nothing else, maybe I would go.
3. Sunscreen can actually sort of sweat out of your skin. Ugh.
