After three amazing months at camp where I was happier than I have been in years, I am now at Marshall University in Huntington, WV working towards my Master's degree in biology. I'll be studying the natural history and conservation of either the Long-tailed salamander (Eurycea longicauda longicauda) or the White-spotted Slimy Salamander (Plethodon cylindraceus). :-D There are other possibilities, but those are the top two picks for me. I'm part of a graduate student lab with 16 other students under Dr. Pauley. I love it! The people are all pretty cool and it cracks me up having every other person I see be a Pauley person. It makes me feel like I know a ton of people already which helps when getting settled in to a new place. The second year students are already asking the new grad students for help with collecting their species across the state which means camping trips galore solely to collect animals. LOL, I'm so excited! I'm also a bio lab TA. This semester I was assigned three non-majors labs and I've had two so far this week, one with 25 students and the other with 17. I have one more tomorrow at 8am. All we've done so far is watch a safety video which is by far the most pointless and stupid safety video I've seen. I actually apologized to my class this morning before even playing it. As part of my TA duties, I also tutor for an hour every week and have to hold 2 office hours a week. What that means is that I have 3 hours solely for doing whatever I want cause chances are, no one's going to be showing up. Aight, I'm out.
