hallo aus altenberg!

I am at my orientation program right now, and we've finally gotten wireless hooked up, so yay for being online! And using my computer in general...it's my first time listening to music in like, 4 days and it feels soooo good! mmmm...music.

anyhow, orientation is going well. Obviously, I haven't been spending much time on the internet. I've met a bunch of cool people, especially since they segregate the vegetarians from the meat eaters at meal times, which is kinda hilarious, like we're outcasts or something, but also kind of cool, because it's forced me to branch out from my AJY safety net...namely jack, since I'm not fond of the other AJY kids here, really. But yeah, met a bunch of cool kids, and the one other FSA in Potsdam, who's at a different school. I was really suprised though to find that there were only two of us in a city so large, but as it turns out, Brandenburg has only 15 FSA's for the whole state, whereas some of the other states, such as Berlin, NRV, etc, have more than 50. So...oh well. I can hang out with the Berlin kids too.

In other news...I'm really excited to get to my town, get moved in, and start filling out a ton of paperwork to get my residency permit. I've also found out that I will likely be able to make 15-20 euros per 45 minutes as a private tutor and 3-5 euros per page of proofreading, 10-20 euros per page of translation(under the table, of course. I am not allowed to have a second job at all, really). SWEET! That should make life a bit more comfy. In addition, I've heard that...a lot of the teachers in the schools don't really know how to use FSA's or aren't interested in using us, so I will likely not even work a whole 12 hours per week in the schools.Um, okay. Fortunately, that doesn't affect how much I am paid, so we will just see how it goes.
