A quick interview update is in order. I'll get back to comments soon :)

So the company is a small Internet start-up like Shutterfly and Snapfish. These guys are photography geniuses and were the ones behind Ritz Camera, a multimillion dollar company. They offer lower prices than their competitors with more creativity and one-on-one customer service.

The position is called an internship because they previously asked for social media managers and were bogged down with resumes from database network engineers and people expecting 6 figure salaries. So they tried labeling it as an internship to let people know it's a startup. It's part-time, you make your own hours and just need to visit the office three days a week to interact with everyone. But you come in as you please. It's very laid back. Which would be nice so I can run my own business on the side and still pursue writing like I have been. Being part-time means that if they pay less than my unemployment benefits, the EDD will make up the difference in salary so I wouldn't be hurting myself to do this.

Did I mention it's on Main Street in Huntington Beach? Two blocks from the pier? I could walk to the beach on my lunch break.

So I am a bit excited about this. It's a company where I could get paid to be creative. If the company fails, I'm still allowed unemployment and I'm no worse than I am now. But with my business and entrepreneurial background, this could be a great way to network with millionaire entrepreneurs willing to invest in small companies. So there's more of a long term advantage than just a pay check. I'm a small business type of person and I'd love to get in on something like this and maybe even future opportunities.

Anyway, it's hard to tell how it went. It's very laid back, the office is one room so we chatted outside Starbucks. Nothing gave me any hint of whether I had a shot or not. He had a thick pile of resumes so who knows what I'm up against. My experience is limited to personal experience... But he seemed impressed with it. We talked about engagement, analytics, other stuff I've taught myself within the last few months. But I also haven't worked with hootsuite or Tweetdeck.

Hard to tell. Really hard to tell. Keep your fingers crossed that whatever happens, it all works out for the best. If this isn't an opportunity for me, I still have others including my own business to run. Extra money and the networking would be helpful though :)
