Fey Publishing Call For Submissions (Update)

Jun 26, 2013 18:51

For the writer folks out there, I just wanted to remind everyone that Fey Publishing is looking for submissions for two anthologies - "Horrors of History" and "Happily Never After". The deadline is July 1, 2013, though I am considering lengthening the deadline for "Happily Never After". Mainly because I jumped in way over my head and two anthologies at once is a lot, especially as I'm finishing a book and editing Kevin's next book. Plus, it has fewer submissions and I think it was a tougher one for people to write for. Either way, I'd love it if some of my writer friends contributed. So far, it's 99% people I don't know which is amazing and what I am aiming for. But I know many of you are amazing writers and would love to work with you.

So what are the anthologies about?

"Horrors of History" is historical fiction meshed with horror. I'm looking for both realistic, but dark, events that took place in history (fictionalized, of course) and also alternative history (the Civil War with zombies? Maybe not? Who knows?). Obviously the darker side of history.

For "Happily Never After", I am looking for science fiction, dystopian or speculative fiction with a fairy tale twist. Something they might tell their kids in an alternate universe or in a dystopian world. Maybe dragons can be replaced by alien robots or evil kings can rule over entire solar systems. The more imaginative, the better.

These are currently non-paying anthologies. I'm aiming to pay an editor and a cover designer and don't expect to make much profit off them for my time by doing this. It's for a publishing credit and at the very least a free copy of the e-book and physical copies being offered at cost (depending on how many authors are in them, I may be able to give out physical copies too).

So spread the word far and wide. If you know authors that write in any of these genres, let them know. The deadline is July 1st, so there might not be much time (though again, if I see an increased interest in the "Happily Never After" one, I may extend the deadline until the end of August).

Thanks everyone!
