Just as I promised...I'd write and say what I did.
Sunday, June 26th: Drove from home to Ontario, Canada. Visited Niagra Falls on the Canadian side. There was a really pretty pale rainbow. I got a bit soaked from the mist of the falls. It was so beautiful there.
Monday, June 27th: Finished the drive to Michigan.
Tuesday, June 28th: In Detroit area. We went to the Henry Ford Village and Museum. It was quite boring since there weren't many interpretors. I enjoyed seeing an old fashioned oboe and clarinet in one of the houses. Afterwards we went to Comerica Field to see the Detroit Tigers face the Chicago White Sox. We had awesome seats on the left field side on the fourthe row. It drizzled a bit in the 5th or 6th inning. The Tigers lost, sadly.
Wednesday, June 29th: We travelled a great distance to Mackinaw City. We visited the Colonial Michilimackinac Village there, and I was quite impressed with all of the people in costumes giving interpretations. We took a ferry to Mackinac Island. It's a simply beautiful in this area. It's a small island, about 8 miles circumference with bountiful shops. I finished reading Pride and Prejudice and was quite pleased with the ending.
Thursday, June 30th: We took a carriage tour of the area. Stopped and visited The Wings of Mackinac (a butterfly house) and Fort Mackinac. (One thing, Mackinac is pronounced mack-eh-NAW)(It's French). I went horse back riding, but had to wear a helmet unfortunately.
Friday, July 1st: Dad and I rented one-speed bikes for the whole day. I biked the island around twice, once with my dad, and once without him. 16 miles of biking! I also went shopping..but didn't get too much.
Saturday, July 2nd: Left Mackinac Island after purchasing some more fudge. Everyone should definitely go to Mackinac Island just to get some fudge! It's the best I've ever tasted! Especially the double dark chocolate!!! On the way to Holland, we stopped at Miniwanca where my dad had gone to camp at my age.
Sunday, July 3rd: Did Dutch stuff. We went to the Dutch Village, and the Windmill Island. Dad and I went running on the track. I did a mile in 7 min and 22 sec!!! After that we saw "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in the theater. It was wicked good.
Monday, July 4th: We went to Gerald Ford's Museum. It was pretty boring, except for the sports section. Travelled a bunch.
Tuesday, July 5th: Shopping all day in Frankenmuth which is a German place. I was disappointed because it was only shopping and not anything else.
Wednesday, July 6th: Travelled all the way home going through Canada again. Made it home around midnight.
I leave on this Sunday for my Poland trip. Wish me luck!
