I got my first piercing today! It's a little aquamarine flower in my upper ear (cartilage). Pic:
I absolutely love it. It pinched when the needle went in, but the pain almost immediately dissipated. It ached for maybe half an hour after, now it feels great. I also got my contacts today and a haircut on Saturday, so I'm like a whole new woman! :D Interesting factoid: I thought I needed a stronger prescription because my glasses were making things a bit blurry after 200 feet. Not. The doctor said my glasses need a WEAKER prescription; apparently my eyesight has imrpoved since my last exam in 2008. Weird! But good.
Out of the past week and a half, Chelsea and I have only spent one day apart. We've clicked really well; I feel like she'll be a wonderful friend. She loves to hang out, but she's not clingy either - she's got her bestie, Emily, and I've still got mine, so it works out well. She's happy watching a movie, playing videogames, or going out. Her decorating is the same taste as mine and once she says she'll do something, she does it. She's VERY even-tempered, but has a core of snark. She always listens carefully then makes a thoughtful comment. Most importantly, she's obsessed with horses, same as me! It's awesomesauce. She's a Ravenclaw with some Slytherin tendencies, whereas I'm the opposite. Perfect balance.
We stopped by IKEA after my eye appointment this morning. I may have found the bedframe and dresser set I want. We split the list of furniture we're getting, minus our bedrooms, so the costs even out - Chelsea's responsible for the bookshelf, dishes, sitting room rug, and she's bringing her sofa and coffee table from home; I'm getting the kitchen table with chairs, end tables, and we have my TV. We're both contributing to the little decorations. We're going with a Middle-earth theme; so everything will have an old world feel. I'm even getting a lantern to hang from the sitting room ceiling instand of a lamp.
I can hardly believe that I have one exam left on Thursday, then I'm gone on Friday for a week. Then summer! And work. With any luck, I'll be the new pet care associate at PetSmart after I get back on 21st May. The semester went by so fast. It's so odd - when I was a kid, all I wanted was time to move more quickly. Now that I'm grown, it seems to fly by much too fast.
Move-in day at LP apartments is on 15th July. Chelsea and I are so excited! It's a gorgeous, roomy floorplan (1530 sq ft), with two patios. We're on the first floor, but I'm not fussed this time - this complex has alarm systems built in already. All we have to do is set up the phone service.
Wendy, the other roommate, will be coming down hopefully by November, and Jamie, the lil bro, will be down in 2 years. Chelsea and I will get along well. Jazz loves her to death. I've lost a little over 1 stone since 25th April. I passed all my classes and am registered for the ones I want for next year. We're ready for move-in for our apartment. I'm just so happy and looking to the future with confident anticipation.
