Sleeping has been an interesting experience. My first night I slept with a tank top on and got bitten ALL over me (I took pictures of myself today so you can see the pain haha). The last couple nights I've slept with a mosquito incense thingy burning, "OFF" all over me, and a shirt with 3/4 length sleeves and a high neckline. It's a trip. Also, people really don't care what time of day it is here...there is always music playing and people talking really loud. It's interesting to fall asleep to the sounds of bugs, birds, frogs, and voices.
The humidity is not nearly as unbearable as I first thought it would be. It makes for VERY pleasant evenings. The sun is different here..much more intense. You can feel it burning your skin in almost a piercing way when you stand in its direct light.
I went to Asher's church yesterday. Everyone there was so nice!! Everyone was so happy to meet me and they all came up and introduced themselves...and made comments about my bug bites...dang...:). They like me though. Yay! More people told me "hi" at his church in that one visit than people would on any given Sunday at my church. That's kind of sad. After church we took a nap--Ash and I are still pretty frapped from all the travel. During the evening I played "Risk" with the Mains for the first time. I lost. Asher won. My poor Asia will be avenged. :)
Today I went with the Mains and another family (from their church) on a tour of the island. Mom would NOT like the roads here. Everything is waysuperwindy and sharp turns and up and down and there are no "lanes"...the width of the road is the size of one lane in the states, and it's all on mountain sides. I did lots of inner-gasping in honor of her. :) I took some pictures of some places--a historical one for my dad, and one of Ash and I swimming in a waterfall. Yup, I swam in a water fall. I did. :) I also smelled weed today. Hee. It is stinky. Eww.
I think we're just gonna watch movies tonight and hang out. I was struck with something while touring the island today...I will need more time to think of how to eloquently write it. It'll be good. just you wait.
