Would just like to say fuck you metroplex hospital in Killeen Tx. NEVER have I seen such a lack of care for a child's life. I'm going to share what I posted on the hospital's fb pages wall (and what I will be telling them when I call them tomorrow morning bright and early). It sums up the situation even though it leaves out the part where the cna/rn who triaged him said that he needed a room NOW. But anyway, here's what I told them via FB and I will tell them tomorrow via phone.
After waiting in your Emergency room for 5 hours with an 11 month old child, I have determined that your emergency room is the worst I have EVER been in. I've dealt with some pretty crappy emergency rooms in my life, but I have never seen the health of a child so blatantly ignored. We arrived at 3 pm with a baby who had a 103.3 degree fever who was coughing like crazy. His twin brother has pneumonia and we were concerned with how he was breathing that he did as well. They triaged him after a half an hour, treated him with motrin and tylenol and then left us to sit in the waiting room with him for 4.5 hours. We were apparently 5th-6th in line for 3 hours. At 7:30, after multiple complaints from me, his father, and the child's grandma, they finally retook the temperature of the child. We were advised then that we were 2nd in line but that it would probably still be an hour or so until we saw a doctor. All of this with a sick infant who was having trouble breathing. We finally decided to take our luck with a doctor's appointment the next day and keeping his fever down at home. I have NEVER left a hospital feeling so angry and disappointed in the way we were treated, or rather the lack of any real treatment at all. You can bet you will be hearing from me tomorrow morning regarding this hospital's disregard for our child's health. I sincerely hope you all manage to find a way to solve this problem before someone winds up passing out or worse while waiting to be seen by your doctors.
I know that the nurses aren't to blame and that this is a staffing issue. But I have never seen such shitty treatment from a hospital. I mean hell a kid who was there because he got the back of an earing stuck in his ear had time for it to fall out naturally after 5 hours waiting to see a dr. They had a little girl who had probably broken her fingers waiting for at least 4 hours, but they were still there when we left so who knows how long it'll be before they're seen or decided to say the hell with it. The worse part is short of calling them to complain, and complaining via fb there's literally nothing I can do about this. I have never wanting to choke something as bad as I do right now.
