Mobile, GPS, car navigation system. Yes, scouting has come long way since tents...
Okay, so why did I sleep in a tent this weekend?
Aaargh.
Right, in short, last weekend: Hike and Seek. National Scouting game, involving two sets of teams. One searching out by foot all the checkpoints in a 8 kilometer radius of the startingpoint, without being seen. The other set of teams finding as many hiking teams as possible by... well... all means.
Well, obviously, Dirk and I opted for the second option, and so we scoured the area for two days, driving around (as did 28 other teams) by car over asphalt, through mud and forests like maniacs, trying the located hiking teams (of which there were 52). Armed with spotlights, binoculars, being sent hints by text-message and reporting spotted teams by the same way, with cars stuck in quicksand and pools and Eeyore as our secret weapon, we had all the cool fun.
The only thing I didn't get enough of is rest. My mind is still wired up and searches for scouts in every available shadow. And it's giving me a headache.
