perchalicious has done a great job explaining livejournal intricacie, but in terms of pixel_trade? Lets start at the beginning. ^_^
To have your sims be eligible for other people to use in their pixel_trade legacies/challenges etc, you just have to be a member. That's it, that's all. You just click the join up buttons and you're done.
If you want to advertise any and all random sims/pets you have made to the community, you may do so in a post directly to the comm at any time, exactly as you have done here. You tag this post with your username and !sim_submission. This is currently in a trial phase, but the trial will be ending soon and we will instate it in the rules.
If you would like to share some sims specifically in the monthly founder posts, then between the 1st and 10th of each month, a founder submission post goes up which you can submit to. All sims submitted to the founders are completely CC free for both TS2 & TS3, and have specific image requirements. Comments on that are screened and the sims submitted are revealed on the 10th in a single collection post by a mod.
If you are posting to advertise an update of a challenge/legacy you are doing that is pixel_trade eligible, then you do so directly to the comm (similarly to what you have done here) and make sure you tag it with all of the members who's sims feature in that specific update.
That's pretty much all the basics laid out. There are different challenges being run periodically in the community, some on going (like our !build a neighbourhood community project) and others that are run sporadically (!simsperiments, for example) which all have their own sets of rules.
I'm a bit perplexed about your comments about "I don't get how posting in the founder thread A. apparently is the wrong thing to do and B. doesn't get a response since it is wrong... " as I've not seen any posts you've made to the founder submission threads, bar one on the recent founder collection saying: "Well shoot. I thought I posted right, but apparently not... I'm confused now.," email notification of which I received well after the email notification of this post -- all of which occurred while I was asleep.
I checked the last founder submission post and there does not appear to be any comments there from you? Please realise that the mods are not being paid for this, and we have lives and all live in different time zones - comments like "Doesn't get a response since it is wrong..." don't exactly fill any of us with the desire to help you when its been less than a day. I'm sure you would understand, shoe being on the other foot etc ;)
ANYWAY! I hope that clears it all up for you. If you ever have any questions - no matter how silly you think them - or need clarifications then you can always pm a mod - our usernames are listed in several places on the profile page and we all have pms turned on. ^_^
Thanks so much for taking the time to type that out for me! That's a huge help. Puts thing in their place.
Oh jeez! I didn't mean to sound like I was like... blaming you for "not responding" or anything. I swear I was only perplexed and embarrassed.
I know I posted a link in what I thought was a founder thread, my assumption was that I had posted in the wrong thread entirely, and then somehow missed a notification. Or got it so wrong that my post was just deleted (no judgment, that's just what happens to newbie posts sometimes). At no time did the words, or any permutations of "Those twits! They didn't respond!" go through my head. :)
I'm embarrassed. It's really hard being a mod, I don't want to make it harder.
As for the timing of what I posted today, I don't remember what I was thinking when. My guess is somewhere between me not knowing exactly who was going to read what, where; and having screwed up my computer's calender/time settings temporarily, something went funny. :? Sorry again.
Yes. That clears up a lot! Thank you so much! I have bookmarked the profile page so as not to lose it. And will make sure to ask, in a non spammy way if I'm befuddled again. :)
