Well I'm just getting ready to leave for my knitting class. I'm so happy that it didn't get cancelled or delayed, so every Wednesday from 12:30-2:00 I'll be trying my hardest to learn to knit. Best thing is I get to go drool over all the yarn and stuff at Urban Yarns before my class if I leave on time :-D I got my transit instructions and look ( Read more... )

I'd love to teach you how to crochet, but you live so far. *sigh* I'm sure you can find classes around your area. Have you ever tried to get a book of either and try, as well as there are great tutorials online for knit, never had to look for crochet.

I tried to learn out of a book, but couldn't

I keep trying to get a friend to teach me, but we haven't had the time.

I'm thinking about asking a lady at work, but I am dubious about letting her teach me...she's kind of abrasive.

It was fun, but a little frusterating. I can now cast on and I'm sorta getting how to knit, now purl is another story!! I don't think patterns will be too hard for me because I crochet I just have to learn knit abbrevations and stuff. Well I need to go wash my hands, I had to use a wool/acrylic blend (I'm allergic to wool) because I tried with cotton and it wasn't working out well. I was able to make sense of the stitches better with the chunky wool/arylic yarn then the DK cotton so it was worth the itchy hands and watery eyes.

Wow the first day and I can cast on and learned the knit stitch. I'm a little confused with the purl stitch, but this is further than I've ever gotten before without getting so frusterated and confused that I give up. The instructor was great about showing us other ways to do things and helping us find what is comfortable for us, which Ifind refreshing. I can't wait till next class :-D
Give it a try, I find once you get the hang of it it's fun and easy. It's a good way from being creative and de-stress at the same time.
