I'm home! I'm back from our drive down to CA and since the guide dog school is in San Rafael I'll be going back next month. I'll be downloading pictures to flickr once I get some time to play with them. It was so nice to bask in the sun and where we were staying was a short walk to the beach. The drive down was full of heavy downpours of rain through BC, WA and OR. I don't remember there being a time in OR that it wasn't raining and if there was some brief periods of no rain I must have been sleeping. My favourite part of the trip was driving down the coast to Monterey to see the Aquarium. It's a beautiful drive and maybe even the most filmed road due to the beautiful coast and winding roads. I was in jelly heaven at the aquarium, most of my pictures there are filled with jellies and I even purchased a really cool glow in the dark jellies in glass to take home with me. I <3
Jellyfish! Lil' Pixel had a blast being a beach bunny and I got heat stroke because we spend hours at the beach our second day we were there without a hat. Darn dark hair!
It's nice to be home and the sun came out when we drove across the border and it's been peeping out on and off. I really needed to recharge my batteries with sunlight because this has been a really dark, cold winter and I was going a little crazy. I'm much more relaxed and feel human again, yay! I didn't get much knitting in but I did get some reading in and we brought back stacks of new books! Right now I'm reading
His Majesties Dragon by Naomi Novik it mixes two of my favourite things sailing and dragons! I highly recommend this to anyone even if you don't like fantasy if you like alternative historical, dragons (squee!) naval settings, or just a good read try the Termeraire series out.
In other news, I got my papers from the guide dog school so now I'm getting ready for my one month stay on the training campus. I can't wait even though I did just find out that wake up is at 6:30 am in the morning (or maybe I just choose to forget that fact) and I'm not a morning person!! From the looks of it training is going to be really intensive with loads of hard work, but worth very second. I'm still in a bit of shock that I'll be graduating as a guide dog handler in about two months! Not only am I going to get increased mobility but I'll have a friend who won't judge me or pity me, even silently. So all I need to do now is go to the passport office on Wednesday with all my paperwork and get my passport fast-tracked.
