This has been a REALLY GREAT weekend so far. My parents are here, our Africa Week ~Extravaganza~ was today which meant a fly fashion show, delicious Ethiopian food, and a great & interactive performance by the Dunya Performing Arts Company. Then there was a parlor party serving mangos, lychees, and coconuts! And yesterday the new TMSR song came out! I thought everything was going to a be a disaster but it all turned out so well. Very multicultural day. I feel somewhat closer to my peers after today. It feels really nice.
Also I think the reason I enjoy kpop/kdramas so much is because for whatever reason they remind me of the 90s and I have romanticized that decade to a ridiculous extent (like to the point where I consider The Wackness to be a good movie). I miss hi-top fades and garish color blocking. And TLC. But there's tons of terrible, non-frivolous stuff that happened in the 90s too. Back then my worldview extended only as far as my city limits. Maybe the current decade is too fresh and too real for me to really enjoy it, but today, I'm having a good time.
