Are you all okay?
Hi... I know I'm really bad at this, and really late into the week to ask. But... I hope everybody's all right, and a safe distance away from Katrina. And I hope your loved ones are too. It was bad of me to get too wrapped up in my own little world and to come across seemingly callous like this.
I just got my mittens on the newspapers, and it made for devastating reading. I was sitting in the waiting room to wait for my consultant to come and have a look at the cast (and I am bloody going home tomorrow, even if I have to sign myself out AMA) and saw the extent of the damage on television. The grainy pictures added to the grim atmosphere and I can't begin to think what it must have been like for the victims.
And those sick and injured and dying being tended in makeshift tents and on the roadsides. The debris and flood, and the explosions and fires, and the crimes, brought back memories of the tsunami just nine months ago. I can't believe that these things just can't stop. There's flooding and bushfires in Europe and now Katrina... I really hope that all of you are safe, and all of your family and friends are away from harm's way. My thoughts are all with you.
