Finished!

For some reason this was the coat the would not let itself be finished. I looks simple enough, but looks are deceptive. I don't know why it gave me such troubles. Probably part of it was that I tried to work on it over the holidays but was so busy with so much other stuff that I didn't get much done. In any case, it is made from a truly beautiful cashmere wool blend, tightly woven and with a faint stripe pattern running through it.

I made it to go with this skirt I made for the same wonderful client a few months ago.

I was very annoyed to go to the post office and have to pay twice what I imagined for shipping. It was 2.3 Kilograms. If it was 2 Kilograms it would have cost 25gbp to send insured. But because it exceeded the weight limit it cost 37gbp to send, and I couldn't insure it for its full value unless I paid another 10. So yes it cost $74 to send this thing to the US.

Here are a gazillion more pics. These are all clickable thumbnails, because I am that considerate.

The sketch it was derived from (I skipped the double layer, it was just too much)

And the inside, before the lining went in:

And more of the skirt:

Details pics. One cool thing about this skirt is that you can take off the asymmetrical/pleated top part of the skirt. Then you can use that and wear it over a simple skirt or pants, or you can just wear the simpler black bottom layer on its own. Nifty Heh? And because I am psycho about this stuff its all amazing cashmere blends and wools and its completely lined.

coats, work
