Does anyone know of coffee-shops or that sort of place that offer free wireless internet to their customers? A friend of mine in another state told me their dunkin donuts does this....but (a) I don't know of any near squirell hill/oakland/waterfront area (which is closest to me) and (b) I'd rather just be in a coffee shop. I ask simply because it ( Read more... )

Crazy Mocha. If you can handle the incredibly think cloud of smoke in a small enclosed space. I used to go there to do work constantly (the one on Ellsworth), but besides the lung cancer I was probably developing from the air there, I couldn't possibly go anywhere respectable afterwards - my hair, my clothes, and even my laptop would smell like pipe and cigar and cigarette smoke.
I *think* also that the Shadow Lounge has free wireless.

This reminds me of the story about the man who went to doctor and said "Hey doc, everytime I do this it hurts" and the doctor replies "Well don't do that".

I second crazy mocha, but all of their locations have free wireless, oakland, southside (south side works), and bloomfield, as well as the one on ellsworth. the other locations are smoke free so if you have issues with that, there are other options.

Also, I think Panera has free wireless? Also Brueggers.... I think possibly coffee tree roasters as well?? They have locations on forbes in sqhill and on walnut in shadyside.

Good luck :)

There's a Crazy Mocha in Lawrenceville, too. Near the corner of Butler and 41st St.

there are 7 Goats (Crazy Mochas) now:
- Oakland (across from Fuel & Fuddle, around the corner from Panera)
- Shadyside (Ellsworth btwn Maryland and College)
- S Side Wks (Carson near 28)
- Bloomfield (4525 Liberty at I forget what intersection)
- Lawrenceville (Butler at 41)
- Sewickley(!) (Beaver nr Division)
- Oakland (Carnegie Library--Main, on the first floor)

All have free wireless internet. Shadyside is all-smoking (and frequently visited by a certain man with very large cigars); Bloomfield is about half-smoking, and the rest are all non-smoking.

Beehive has computers they rent. 14th and Carson (guess where I am now)

Also, if you have a laptop, Beehive, 61c on Murray in Squirrel Hill, various Crazy Mochas (Oakland across from Uncle Sams Subs, Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, Ellsworth Avenue, and Southside Works), most Panera Breads (supposedly Squirrel Hill does not, I have not verified)

Squirrel Hill's Panera is supposed to have wireless, but its network is often non-functional. But why go to Panera at all, when 61C is right down the street? (Although I guess they don't have the sandwiches...)

When what you want is a bowl of soup, 61c isn't helpful.

Neither is the Beehive, though their sandwich pockets are very tasty.
