Food, Diet, Health Research:

Hi Pittsburghers,

I am currently seeking people who have struggled with weight, diet and food, for a research article/survey. If this applies to you, or someone you know, I'd love to get some information from you!

1. What is your self-image as it stands now?

2. What diets, exercise, etc. have you tried? Have any worked?

3. What foods are most likely to make you fall off the wagon?

4. Most restaurants now provide "Nutritional Facts" on things they serve, does this help you in deciding?

5. Also many restaurants now offer more "Health Conscious" menus (which I've noticed are quite bland and unappealing)...do you choose from that small selection or indulge in the "normal food"?

6. How often do you eat out or order in?

7. What does your usual diet consist of?

8. What is your favorite "guilty pleasure" or "comfort" food?

9. What is your take on "Primanti Brothers"?

10. Have you ever traveled to another city or state JUST to try something that is served there?

11. Would you say your diet has at any point (aside from weight gain or loss) affected your health?

12. Do any mainstream media sources help or worsen your habits? (For instance, does watching "The Biggest Loser" make you more aware of what you eat and try harder? Does watching The Food Network end up biting you and making you bite into something you generally wouldn't seek out if not for the TV?)

13. Do you think the government should be more or less involved in what restaurants and stores are permitted to provide citizens?

14. What, if any, changes would you like to see happen regarding the quantity, quality and nutritional value of food served throughout America?

15. Free text: Anything else you'd like to add about yourself, your opinion on foods, society, health, restaurants, govt, etc.

All those who answer will remain anonymous, unless I'd like to quote you, in which case I will request your permission and information before doing so. If you would like to participate but would like the information to remain more private, please feel free to drop me an LJ Message or direct e-mail [nerdywriting [at] gmail [dot] com].

Thanks!
