opinions of u-haul

Aug 12, 2009 16:13

I've decided to do my own moving from Swissvale to Brookline. It turns out my trusty and increasingly strapping 13 year-old son will be available and willing to help, that day.

That's why I'll be renting a small truck. The cheapest and nearest for me is a U-Haul place in Braddock. However, I've heard a couple of people say that U-Haul sometimes doesn't have the trucks needed on hand, even when reserving them several days in advance. What's your experience with U-Haul been like?

UPDATE, THURSDAY 8/13: I've reserved a 14-foot truck for $19.95 at the U-Haul location a few of you recommended. I also made a point of doing it by phone with a live human being, also per at least one recommendation. It's on Washington Blvd., the street that extends out from Penn Ave. as you're headed out past Wilkinsburg. After all your input, I now remember accompanying a friend there last year when she was moving, and not encountering any problems. For specifics, it's
