Giant Crane

Jul 27, 2009 00:15

As I was sitting tonight watching The Day The Earth Stood Still (which sucked), I found my mind wandering idly and wound up staring for a while at the giant crane on a hill that you can see from Flagstaff, up on a mountain and appearing to the left of the Cathedral of Learning.

What is that crane? I've wondered many times before but never really ( Read more... )

I have to admit, it was a good role for Keanu, playing a character that's emotionally dead. It was a good fit for his general acting.

Oh yeah, honestly of all the things I hated about that movie, Ted Theordore Logan's performance was not one of them. He was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, his character was stuck in a story that made ZERO sense told with effects that looked like recycled leftover concepts from The Mummy.

Dude, that movie was so bad that after an illegal download you would feel like you wasted bandwidth. It especially made me sad because I love the original so much, and while I'm not one of those silly people who expects remakes to match the original (or adaptations to read from the book) I was truly surprised by the suckitude of this one.

One really weird thing popped out at me at the end, too...did they take refuge under the EXACT same bridge in Central Park as used in Cloverfield? If so, that just adds to the lame rip-off-ness of the film.

It still blows the doors off of Transformers 2.

Which is to say, it's better than getting herpes.

Oh man, Transformers 2... The "twin" robots were so racist... I was offended and I'm white!

To say nothing of the fact that the movie actually made NO sense. Did you notice how Devastator was climbing a pyramid for like twenty minutes while all of the Constructicons were actually miles away in that village looking for Sam (and laying a "trap" with his parents)? WTF. Bay actually claims that was on purpose now, but the truth is he took over the editing himself at the last minute to try and meet a deadline, and ended up making the most confusing action movie of all time.

Well yes, I'll totally give you that. I mean at no point did the continuity get SO screwed up as to prompt the director to later say "oh, did you think those scenes where characters were in two places at once were mistakes, why no, I meant for there to be a whole race of Klatus that looked the same, didn't you get it?".

*lulz*

Wait, characters in two places at once, what? Did I fall asleep for something?

Yeah Bay actually claims now that there's supposed to be a whole race of Constructicons who all look the same, and that somehow the audience was supposed to just "know" that.

*yeahright*

LOL. I was wondering a little bit about that - I figured it was just that things were moving so fast I couldn't follow who was where when as well as I thought I could.
