Big Dog Coffee

Maybe I'm late in discovering this place, but I wanted to give a recommendation anyway...

This afternoon I discovered Big Dog Coffee, a cute little coffee shop located in the South Side Works area. It opened in November, but somehow I've missed it until now. It's roughly at the corner of Sarah Street and South 28th, one block south of Carson, near where Qdoba and Crazy Mocha are.

The space appears to be an apartment that was turned into a coffee shop. There's a little fireplace (obviously not needed now, but makes for a nice addition), a fair amount of tables and seating, and tables located outside in the front of the shop and also in the back. The inside is quaintly decorated with vintage style adornments, and there are several comfortable armchairs and a loveseat. I sat out back on a brick patio which was located between two buildings with a decent view of Carson (once there's no more construction).

I had a very excellent iced mocha which was strong and not too sweet, and a chocolate-peanut butter chip cookie which was so fluffy that it was closer to a pastry than a cookie, for about the same price as one would pay anywhere else. They take credit cards and appear to have wireless internet (there were many people there with laptops, although I was not one of them). The barista was also very friendly.

Overall, I was impressed by the place and delighted that I stumbled upon it. If you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend it!
