Purim: Festival of Holy Intoxication!
Come one, come all, to a night of festivity, revelry and merriment at
Your Inner Vagabond in Lawrenceville, PA, hosted by the Pillar of
Fire, Pittsburgh's only officially condemned (by the rabbinic council)
heretical Jewish group. Bring your best alcohol, drums, songs, magic,
stories and fun people to share with everyone. (This party is 21+.)
Come in fancy dress (costume, formal-wear, renaissance garb, etc) or
be prepared for us to dress you up. A good guideline is to wear
something that will stand out on the street in some way. Coming in drag is strongly encouraged, though not required. (Drag is traditional for the holiday, particularly for men.)
Possible festivities (depending on demand and availability) include
drumming, dancing, fire-spinning and sexy party games (spin the
bottle, truth or dare). There will definitely be a short opening
ritual, along with a Passion Altar where you can place your love- and
sex-related wishes, intentions and offerings. We're also lucky to have performance troupe Moquette Volante joining us this year for fire-eating, belly-dancing, and retelling the Purim story.
Admission is $15, and includes YIV's excellent food and drinks, as
well as the Pillar of Fire's alcohol. If you're a designated driver or
you bring a bottle of alcohol to share, your admission is $12. (The Pillar of Fire's proceeds from the party will be donated to benefit Planned Parenthood.)
