Fans don't riot. See, winning is considered a GOOD THING. There is no reason to act out when GOOD THINGS happen. That is why FANS don't actually riot-- ASSHOLES riot. Assholes use a team's performance as an excuse to be an asshole.
Being UPSET when your team of choice looses? Totally understandable. Unlike about 99% of the assholes out there that caused so much damage after XL (81 set fires following the game, according to a guy I met from the fire department), I actually remember the Steelers losing Superbowl XXX. But somehow we managed to get through that painful episode without Oakland turning into a freaking war zone.
There is absolutely NO REASON why you should use the Steelers' performance today as an excuse to make the evening any worse for the poor police/ firefighters/ EMTs stuck on duty. If you feel the need to set things on fire, flip over cars, destroy mailboxes and garbage cans, break windows, or otherwise destroy other peoples' property? You're not doing it because you're a fan. You're doing it because YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE.
So for god's sake, DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE. Don't bring this city down to the level of Morgantown or Boston.
