A fine and fitting tribute.
One of the local radio stations was saying that today would have been the 80th birthday of Fred Rodgers
, and is asking everyone to wear a sweater in his memory.
I remember growing up with him, and realizing what an impact he has had on Pittsburgh and the lives of millions around the world.
There was a story I heard, about how he and others were invited to the old Soviet Union and were sitting in a room with their Russian counterparts just staring at the walls. Fred opened up a case and brought out a puppet. Before you knew it the puppets of both countries were laughing and talking to each other like old friends.
That to me was Fred Rodgers.
