Pitter 2004 Christmas Party

Dec 23, 2004 17:22

So yeah, I did the christmas party. It was initially a small dinner, which blowed into a party. There was around 25 people and the weather was good(eventhough it threatened to rain).

The Cooks
I guess the highlight of the party was the fact that it was going to be made up of mainly seychelles food. But to cook that kind of special food, u will need nothing less than the best cooks from the islands itself. That came in the form of master cook Esther, and her crew which includes Cynthia, Francesca and Sylvanna, which nevertheless to say, all have a lifelong experience in this business.

The food
There was a mixture of snacks and dinner stuff. From what i can remember, there was beef pastry("pate"), tuna sandwitches, tuna fried balls!("boulet"), noodles, bread(from Kat), potatoes and egg salad, fried rice, mix vegetable salads, pumpkin salad and of course the famous turkey. There was also chocolate spiders(from Kat again) and some seychelles dessert("ladob") made with sweet potatoes but unfortunately these were all over the place and some people missed out on them(some were just too full). I dunno about u guys, but I thought the food was outstanding. Those who knows me will know that i am very critical about my food....well I was extremely happy with the food....not to mention the decorations!

The drinks
The main highlight for the fortunate ones who was not driving, was the punch. That include rum, any rum will do, but for that nice we had a bottle of bacardi. This is mixed with tropical juice(normal ones u can buy at coles) which has to contain pineapple. Then ice cubes, pieces of apple and oranges were added to finish it off. Of course i made my own punch later on when i was a bit more drunk, but it was not really appreciated by anyone that had tasted the original one made by Master Cook Esther and her crew.....ah screw u all!:) Then there was quite a bit of wine around, beers and soft drinks for everyone's taste.

The people
There was 6 people from the seychelles, which is a record for my parties. I got to see some old friends again after a long long time, like Reena, Kim, Ankur, Daniel.... Also Irene and her friends was there too....and then there was the normal party mongrols like Albs, Abhiselk, Julia, Edward, Ram and Quin, Kat...and of course the birthday boy(Jonathan, the guy that was always standing 2 feet from the food table:))

Music
Of course, to everyone's misery, I force them to listen to some christmas songs...but the look on their misery faces said it all, so i thought i would be good(it is christmas!) in these times of festivities and played some other classics.

So the party slowed down eventually, and since it is right in the middle of the week, people had to keep half an eye on the next working day....so people left between 11-12pm. Most prob my neighbours must have been happy with that, but hell with them...it is christmas!

I would like to thank Jon and Edward for helping Irene and I clean up later, though our job was so easy since the cooking squad had already cleaned most of the stuff.

So that's done with my last christmas party/dinner event in asutralia, because i will be home at this time next yr. Thank u all for showing up, and make that night a night to remember. Most importantly, thanks to the cooking squad!

Merry christmas everyone and have a prosperous new year 2005:)
