That  is what happened yesterday - my proper suburb is on national news and not in a good way.

Wow! So, Asperger’s syndrome can now be used as defence in murder trials? I always thought I might have it in a mild form...

But, seriously, I strongly doubt you are an Aspergie - they are characterized by emotional flatness and poor understanding of nonverbal clues, poor social intelligence etc. - I think you are anything but.

But - seriously- The Autism Society of America said there have been 22 criminal cases in the United States since 2002 in which convictions were avoided in part because of an Asperger syndrome diagnosis.

This is so-called "diminished capacity" defense, although it is a lot more likely to lead to conviction for a lesser crime or a reduced sentence than to acquittal.

хм, это многое бы объяснило...

впрочем, коли не шутите, то ты в некотором смысле счастливчик - есть шанс реально понять социальную систему... в среднем случае народ лишь что-то подспудно ощущает, неосознанно реагирует, и продолжает жить в своей матрице...
