Equus

Oct 30, 2006 16:25

I just bought tickets for the first preview of Equus today. And I'm suddenly filled with... dread, for the lack of a better word, in spite of all my excitement. I hope that the fangirls will behave themselves - the role of Alan is one that I should think impossible to do in front of a restless, squeeing, giggling audience. Especially if you have ( Read more... )

:)

I'll be seeing him when he's relaxed into the role.

Or had a nervous breakdown and given up!

Well, yes, that's why we aren't taking any chances ;)

Also, because in February we'll be living on the other side of the ocean, so we thought it would be best to go when loads of people we know will be there anyway :)

(Btw, is your rat named after Vee's horse or do you just have very similar tastes in names? :))

(Also - Hi! Haven't talked to you in far too long :))

(There are too many smileys in here...)

I expect a detailed review - I love Equus, and I want to know how Mr Radcliffe does in such a difficult role. Here's hoping the fangirls keep it to a minimum!

Will try to deliver :)

I'm also very excited about his performance, but... I dunno, I sort of feel that simply the fact that he did take the part, makes him, in a way, qualified to do it, you know? The mere fact that he is willing to try indicates that he has something of what it takes.

But damn, this will be a torture to watch if he can't do it :o

I feel the same way. I bought tickets for March. I really hope he doesn't give up the role by then. I'm excited too!

Oh, hello! :) Nice to see you - you're fabulous and I feel so ashamed of not commenting on your fics, but I sort of feel that I have so much squeeing to do, that the mere task of commenting seems overwhelming :)

Fingers crossed that he'll stay on! It's probably sensilble to wait until March, both because he'll be better by then, and hopefully the loudest fangirls have given up on Shaffer!

Agreed. And it seems I'll be there too :-) So, I hope with you. I'm sort of really hoping that the people who are actually able to go to this sort of thing will realise that this is a play and that respect and such is needed.
That said, I sort of want to get tickets for a second viewing at the end of the show, because I know how much better it gets as all involved relaxes into the roles and so on - I've seen that happen before. The last show might be worth aiming for...

Ah, so we'll meet at last! :)

And I fear that you are... overly optimistic ;) This is HP fandom we're talking about :p

Yes! :-) Even more reason to look forward to it!

Yeah... I fear you are right. I'll try to stick with the optimism, though, and not feel too bad in advance. I also tell myself that since Richard Griffiths is directing that someone at the theater is aware of the concept of fans and their behaviour. So perhaps they will take steps to remind people to behave.

Well, at least Dan should be aware of just how insane his fans are, and might be able to raise the alarm ;)

It will be interesting to see how they will handle this, how aware of the potential problem they'll be. I mean, since just about every single newspaper article about the play has had the word "naked!" in the headline, they'll know what people are interested in ;) Wonder if they'll... Dunno, search people for cameras or something.

(Oh, and Richard Griffiths is not directing, only starring in the other leading role. I believe Thea Sharrock is the director :))
