I haven't even really had time to think about what's going on in my life right now. On Tuesday, I was scheduled for a double at Hard Rock - open to close. Then I got to go home, sleep for 3 hours, and work 12 hours at the clinic.
Somehow, I gathered up the energy to go out last night. I honestly don't know what far off galaxy that energy came from, as it certainly wasn't from my own body. I must have channeled something unwittingly.
My mohawks (yes, plural) are wonderful, even if they're an odd and constant reminder of things I'd rather not think about. I miss her.
There are many trees down on our property, and a sidewalk monolith in my front yard. The soffett was ripped off the front of the house, and the ceiling fans on the porch were sucked out and mysteriously disappeared. We can't even find pieces of them, in our yard, or our neighbors'. All of the perimeter lights on the house broke, which doesn't seem like a big deal, until you realize that there were probably 30 of them, at about $4 each. The estimate for tree removal was outrageous, and many of the trees are far too large for us to cut up and haul down to the curb ourselves. Mom is hoping that the 60' oak that went down in the front yard can be staked back up. It was her favorite tree. I seriously doubt it's possible.
Somehow, my fence managed to survive the storm. A big super duper thanks to Michael Shelby, Linda, and especially Matthew for the incredible installation! Every privacy fence I've seen in the last 6 days has been knocked over. They obviously didn't have their fences put up with Genghis in mind.
We have a client at the clinic who lost their house, and are now homeless with their 6 dogs. What a horrible situation. They're staying with family, but there is not enough room for the animals, so we're trying to track down some sort of foster living situation for at least a few of the dogs.
I'm exhausted, and tourist season is now officially over. I made less money on my double Tuesday than I've made on most lunch shifts the past few months. Oh well, there are plenty of shifts at the clinic for me to pick up.
