I feel so powerful.
I've recently been in the situation where I had the option to be pricked with three needles for different purposes (vaccine, blood test and MRI), and, seeing as I'm very afraid of them, I avoided all three, maybe at the risk of my health.
Anywho, I went online today in the search for needle-phobia therapy and found out some pretty interesting things about the fear. Apparently I, like many people, pass out and react badly to needles partly because our body/mind equates needles with 'losing blood' and so provokes a set of self-defense reactions (such as passing out).
Clicky here... Well, then I called my dad up and told him to schedule me an MRI apointment. Dude, I've been dreading to get one for years, because of this damn needle they call a "butterfly needle" that they give you that injects a chemical so they can see your brain in different colors.
I DID IT! I'm not resisting this time. I'm a big girl now :) I'm taking control of my own fucking fears. Hoorah!
