Final Word
Just got the final determination on the car's status from the adjuster's office: totalled.
The picture of the poor baby put up didn't do it much justice. The crumpling on the front went as far back as the front passenger's doors. How I was able to pop out of the car moments after the collision confused Martin because he had a very hard time getting the door to shut. How? I was really, really ticked that this happened! Also not apparent in the photo was how the front tires were bent askew. The damage in the back, which absorbed the full force of the impact, included the bumper, both rear panels, and the hatch door. As indicated before: the poor thing looked like an accordian sandwiched between two other vehicles. The only part of the car not damaged was the interior cabin.
So the check is being cut to pay off the car. I guess we'll go car shopping much sooner than I had hoped. Bummer.
