A Rare Old Army Story

Oh, gosh, I hope I'm not repeating myself here.  It could signify an early onset of egg-timers, ah that is, old-timers, ah right, Alzhiemers Disease.  Whatever, I'm middle-aged.

Getting smokers to smoke outside wasn't a bad thing, had it stopped there. But once the government got a taste of the possible, anything, at any time would be prey to interference.

I remember when they lowered speed limits back in the 70's. What a pain that was. I remember my father having fits about it. I grew up in Texas and no matter where we drove it took forever to get there - and not because of traffic snarls back then. After awhile the speed limit was a joke. It hasn't been that long since they lifted the restrictions, come to think of it.

You're absolutely correct, however. If the government says it's lowering the speed limit to force us to conserve fuel, the decision is taken out of our hands. But that's so typical anymore and what gets me is how willing the American people are to give up personal freedoms to an omniscient government. The direction our government is taking scares me. Without faith in God's perfect plan, I'd probably already be running for the hills with a shotgun, carton of cigarettes, and a bag of transfatty-filled potato chips in hand.
