Petition for the use of Renewable Energy

I received this e-mail a while back but lost my internet connection at home (again--sucks, doesn't it?) so I'm only able to post this now.

Hi everyone,

I am am requesting for your support to sign the petition for the renewable energy bill in the Philippines.

Climate change will take its greatest toll on third world countries like us and we need to be ready to adapt to its effects. One of which is to strengthen and encourage renewable energy in the Philippines.

I hope you know that our main source of energy is still coal, which is imported, and is actually one of the highest volume of imports in the country. Burning of coal is one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions, along with the use of petroleum, and if you see the energy mix of our other Asian neighbors, you'll see we're still using imported dirty energy (coal) instead of making use of clean, indigenous sources unlike them.

We're talking about billions of savings from fuel imports if this law is passed and implemented.

We need the support of the government to beef up our defenses against climate change. We have the resources, we're just not using it. The Renewable Energy Bill will support research as well as implementation of the use of Renewable Energy in the Philippines. It will also open to deliberation the major issues such as energy taxation which will definitely affect how far and how much renewable energy we could use in our country,

The RE bill awaits debate on the Senate floor (it has yet again been sidetracked by the elections), which is why we need people to support the bill.

Do something useful today and support this bill, all you have to do is log on to http://renewable.registration.ph/petition.html and sign the petition.

Please pass this along to your friends, and please take the time to learn about climate change and the renewable energy bill. Empower yourself with the knowledge that YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
