The Logical Socialist's Rant (This Will Piss You Off)

So after watching a TV show in which, once again, the 'tragedy' of school violence was brought up I decided to write this. Of course the host mentioned how school violence was 'on the rise' and guess what happened? Someone mentioned fucking Columbine. Let me tell you something about school violence. It's been there forever, it just wasn't in the middle class/upper class suburban schools. It was urban. There were school shootings, riots, beat downs, drug deals, gang rapes and gang activity the likes of which all the suburbanites will never know. How'd it stay below the radar? It was urban. Urban means black, mexican, poor white, asian and anything else thats not rich kid/rich white kid style. So nobody cared. Nobody ever cares about those that get left behind, or fall behind. Why? It might give them a guilty conscience. So they ignored it, but their kids aren't as racist and blindfolded as them so they started to figure some shit out.

Like everything else stolen from blacks, mexicans, poor white and just 'Ghetto' people eventually the violence got taken too. Of course the middle class kids couldn't do it right so they brought the guns to school and pulled triggers when people were around. They flashed their knives and made threats where it could be seen or heard. They got caught with the drugs that got sold to them by kids who needed money for some clothes, some money to eat, money to make sure their baby sister got her shots. So what happened since the people in power knew where it came from? They said it was Urban music, violence on TV, bad parenting. They blamed it on everything and everyone but the kids themselves. The kids were stupid. You live middle class? You got money? You don't need to hustle. You don't have to run with a gang. So rich kids run 'crews' and sling coke and walk around acting hard. They don't cross the tracks though, not without getting real nervous and checking over their shoulders like the boogeyman was hot on their trail.

So what's this got to do with Columbine? It's a tragedy. Of course. Has to be. Those poor rich white kids, shooting up the school. Shot fifteen people who stood around with their thumbs up their asses when they could have done something. They didn't even try and fight back. Die on your feet, not on your knees. They obviously didn't know that motto. I thought they wanted to be hard though? Guess not as much as they thought they did.

What was the tragedy? The tragedy was that nobody cared until it happened in suburbia. Now your little sanctuary has been invaded. Now it's a crime. Now something needs to be done. When my friends were getting stabbed in school and we were beating down kids who talked shit with knives in their hands or running from dealers in alleys or getting chased by pitbulls - The rich kids were worrying about whether or not they'd get someone to go to homecoming with them. Now that the middle class has something to worry about, it's a problem. It sure as hell wasn't when I was back in elementry school and I had to whip some kids ass because he said he was going to stab me and then showed me a knife. Or when any black kid got put in the hospital for getting shot, getting beat and left under a bridge where some bums worked him over. It didn't matter until 'Little Johnny' got shot because he was beating the shit out of some kid who didn't dress like him.

That's the tragedy. Society is run by a chosen few and those of us who don't identify with the people running it get left behind. We get forgotten. Unless we try three hundred percent harder than anyone else. I didn't know how to write a proper sentance, and still have difficulty with my grammar, because the school district I was in didn't have the funding to teach it. Why didn't they have funding? Simple. Property taxes of the surrounding area pay for the school. If you live in a low income neighborhood, you get less money. Funny how that works. It's designed to keep the poor uneducated and isolate them from the portion of society that runs things. But when our way of life collides with yours, whether you steal it or it gets forced on you, then you've got issues. There's your fucking tragedy.
