The clock on the wall was slowly inching towards six o clock. A man, slouched in his chair at a desk on the other side of the office room, was in a sense possessed by the clock as he could not take his green eyes off of the clock. Between him and the clock sat a rather large office desk unique in it's design yet cluttered with many different white sheets of paper. On the papers lie various designs for what seemed to be a system of many gears and springs. The man rolled up his long white sleeve and double-checked his own watch in doubt of the clocks accuracy. His watch wasn't too far from the time the clock showed. The man adjusted his posture and slowly reached for his dark blue overcoat that was folded over the back of the chair behind him. Keeping his eyes focused on the many sheets strewed about his desk the man placed his arms in the sleeves of his overcoat. The mans arms weren't even halfway down the sleeves when he all of the sudden drove his arms threw the sleeve. He then grabbed one of the sheets on his desk and like a type-writer scrolled his head left to right many times checking out everything little detail on the paper. The man then gasped to him self in awe "This is it." He reached across the desk and snagged a red marker and jotted a "check" on the paper. He then stood out of his chair and stretched his legs for a couple seconds. He checked his watch again, then his pockets. He jingled his keys what were in one pocket and patted his cell phone in the other. He then walked out of the office almost forgetting to turn off the light. He made his way out of the building without words but a mere wave to a few coworkers. He hoped up in his dark green truck, pressed the clutch and break and started the engine. His speaker blared out a bunch of unrecognizable rap lyrics and a beat that reverberated his side mirrors. He jerked the shifter into reverse and high-tailed out of the parking lot and on his way home. Without a doubt in a hurry the man stopped at a local grocery store and bought a dozen roses. On his way back to the truck he glanced at his cell phone. The screen read "one missed call one voicemail". He ignored the fact, shoved his phone back into his pocket and went right back into his truck and pressed on towards home. He pulled up in his driveway, opened the garage door, parked and grabbed the roses. Directly after entering the house the man shuffled around looking for a vase to put the roses in. A dog trotted across the room and followed the man around. In the process came across the yellow pages. He opened up the book and stopped flipping threw pages when he stopped between "Pri-" and ""Pro-". He finally found "Provinos", the restaurant where he had taken his lover on their first date. He then called, made a reservation, and placed the book back where he found it. He then continued his search for the vase. After finding the vase and putting the roses in them the man called his voicemail. The message was from his wife. She had just left the office. He placed his phone down on the table and then bent downwards to pet his German Shepard. His phone than began vibrating on the table. It was his wife. She had drove over a patch of glass on the road and now had a flat tire. She was about fifteen minutes from home. The man grabbed the roses and made way to his truck and headed over to the scene with a quickness. When he arrived the woman ran to his car sneaked a kiss in the open window before the man could even turn off the engine. He reached over and grabbed the roses that he had bought for the woman and then got to work on the flat tire. Throughout the entire changing of the tire the woman bantered about how terrible her day at work was. By the end of the matter the man's white dress shirt was filthy. The couple then drove home in their separate vehicles. The man quickly changed his clothes and dressed up as if he was going right back to the office. He then told the woman that he had made plans for dinner but would not tell her exactly where. The couple was now about one hour late for their reservation and was forced to wait for the next available table. The couple made a trip to the bar while they waited. The man ordered a beer for himself and a glass of red wine one for the lady. The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a cigarette. Right before she lit it the man looked at her and told her that he had finished the project he had been working on at work. She smiled, took the first drag of her cigarette and hugged the man.
