So...California was nice. I enjoyed it. But it's been way too long since then to post an entry about it.
The main reason I decided to post something was the fact that people are annoying me. Facebook would create troubles if I posted a note on there, so I'd rather put it here where no one really reads it, but I still let it out. Anyway...
I remember being at YPAS and hating on the music majors because they thought they were so much better than the "non-music-majors" which I was a part of. I was in the YPAS Girls' Choir my freshman and sophomore years. After that, I just couldn't stand their elitist attitudes anymore, so I quit.
I joined the WKU Women's Choir my first semester, and I loved it. Er...I did the first year anyway. Mrs. Floyd went to go do post-doctoral studies in Hungary, so we have another choir director for this year. Somehow, that elitist attitude I thought I had gotten away from in high school, found its way back to the music majors. I can't stand it. They try to take over and run everything the way they think it should be, and their attitudes are less than desirable. The other day, one of them said, "Girls, if you're having trouble, ask one of the music majors for help." Just the music majors? Only they can help me? I don't think so. My friend Julia went to high school with me, she was a YPAS music major, but she isn't a music major at WKU...anyway...I would ask her for help before I asked ANY of those damned music majors. Grr.
Something else bugs me about them, too...every day at lunch, I either eat with Hanna, or alone if Hanna gets up late. I always see the group of music majors sitting together at the biggest table in Garrett. It bugs me that I feel left out and whatnot, but it also bugs me that they always eat with our choir director. It's like they're getting in on her good side or something, and the rest of us -- those who don't each lunch with her every day -- are at a disadvantage...especially when it comes to grades.
Mrs. Floyd would never allow this to happen. I can't wait until she comes back next semester. I hate it. The prissy attitudes, the "better-than-you" sort of snobbery. It's just...it makes me crazy. The reason I loved WKU's choir so much my freshman year was because I didn't find that attitude that I'd hated at YPAS. I mean, c'mon, the music program at WKU isn't even all that great. It's nothing to be snooty about.
*sigh* Well, I have to go to choir now, so I'm off. (But it felt good to get that out...finally.)
