Back from the South

Nov 09, 2008 17:11

I have returned from that place known as the south...though I am happy to say that the typically red state I spent the past three weeks in went blue on election day.

Work has been hell, but that is nothing new. The trip was a series of interconnected scary and challenging...maybe I'll post vignettes, but right now I'm just happy to be sleeping in my own bed. I will say that I am very happy to be driving my car again rather than a pickup, and that it is downright beautiful to hear something other than country on the radio. Good old down home music may have grown on me a bit while away, but I still prefer the rock/alternative/folk/hiphop mishmosh that is NY radio.

Have turned my attention to NaNoWriMo in the hopes that I can still finish by the end of the month. I haven't failed yet, but I also haven't lost an entire week to being too exhausted and stressed to write. We'll see. I want to hit 10,000 tonight. I doubt it will happen, but I have hope. I also worked about 20 hours of overtime last week, 16 hours of which I wish to convert into days off this week...ones that I'd spend writing. The glimmer at the end of the tunnel beckons...

writing, work, thoughts
