I can't believe it. We're seniors now. It seems like just yesterday we were taking our first steps onto the practice field.
Well, band camp was pretty crazy. It really was a week of hell. For awhile I was thinking that only one good thing had come from camp, a hope of something new beginning. But by the end of the show today I realized that I had taken so much away from camp.
I had the hope of new things happening to me, I had learned alot from Dave and the other instructors, and I came away feeling confidant. Dave was a Nazi on the field, he was always telling us "do this" "do that" or "change this" "change that", but when he told me today that my conducting and our preformance of Channel One Suite was amazing I was so happy. I worked my ass of to do that song. And it's nice to see that even with a few tiny mess ups in there it was still amazing to the nazi.
This may have been the week from hell but it was a week that helped me in a lot of ways. When we were marching in the pouring rain on thursday I was 100% happy. I didn't care about the cold or that I was shivering. I was with an entire band on the field marching and conducting and it was perfect. I was surrounded by one of the things I care most about, in my favorite type of weather. I was completely happy. I even did a few spins and opened my arms up to the rain. I'm sure I looked like a fool, but I didn't really care. I can't remember when I felt so peacefull.
So many funny things happend this week. Like when I found out some very exciting news. I didn't know, he didn't know, but the band knew. Man I'm blind. But it's alright now, because we both know. Then of course, rooming with people like Ama, Jesse, and Cobbs always brings crazyness. Like "Nakey Time!" You should try it sometime. It's very refreshing in 100+ degree weather.
All in all, this was an amazing week. There were times when I thought the end couldn't come fast enough, and there were times when I never wanted it to end. Chris was walking with me back to the dorms yesterday and we started talking about college plans. It made me think about how fast things have been passing by. I know that it's still quite awhile away, but it seems like just around the corner. I got home today and started my application for MSU. I have just attended my last High School band camp. I hope this year doesn't go by to fast.
