well, i got the house. woo-hoo! no more alanis morisette in the morning.. boo-hoo.

i visited the house last week. very retro. like a time warp to the 70's which is when the neighborhood was built. here's the perks: wonderful thick orange carpet with a city of allergies and whoknowswhat residing there; an apple tree right out my back door; the overwhelming smell of a nursing home that hits you even before the front door; a collasped train set in the basement along with retro tables, chairs, etc.; a gas stove on the verge of breakdown via exploding; 3 bedrooms assigned to one girl and a leaking toilet. i love it. the toilet is getting fixed and i'm tearing up the carpet which should help exstinguish the funk. it's well furnished, tv and all. and the rooms are a distinct color of 70's nostalgia.

just next door is skeeter and jane, who know everyone's business. jane, whose name is probably 'gossip', has a nickname for everyone on the block but no one knows their own nickname (can't wait until i get mine... i could only guess: narotic writer girl, hippie, punk, hermit). the lady across the street from me is named buddha b/c she sits in front of her living room window that looks out toward the street. she just sits there indian style for hours staring out the window. so they call her buddha. i like her already. i'll keep everyone updated on the names upon discovery, but for now i'm laying low. then i'll release all to jane, none of it will be true, of course.
