I'm doing a painting for my final (one of two, hahaha, oh god help me) that's based on this piece of music.

Jason Thorpe Buchanan composed this last winter for my school's choir.
My family's history with the Civil war makes this painting even more important.
Dear Sarah (1861) -- Major Sullivan Ballou
But, O Sarah!
If the dead can come back to this earth
and flit unseen around those they loved,
I shall always be near you;
in the garish day and in the darkest night --
amidst your happiest scenes and gloomiest hours --
always, always;
and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek,
it shall be my breath;
or the cool air fans your throbbing temple,
it shall be my spirit passing by.
Sarah, do not mourn me dead;
think I am gone and wait for thee,
for we shall meet again."
He was killed in the
first battle of Bull Run, one week after writing this letter.
This is the first and maybe only image that came to mind.
Edit:
I desperately need a guy with a civil war outfit to pose lying down like this. Google image search isn't helping yet. I may accept just guys lying down in boots and jackets. Yikes.
