Here's a weird little thing I found out today..
The living room wall- curves ever-so slightly outwards.
I installed the bracket for a really keen shelf with 50lb drywall screws, and slapped the shelf on there. It's all perfectly level.
Except. The wall bracket of course flexes slightly, and bends to the curvature of the wall.
The shelf is wood, however. And when it's secured and screwed on there, I still see an eighth-inch gap on either end, while the middle is flush.
Also, the cat we are babysitting has taught me something rather valuable. Never have a white longhair cat. No. Not if you ever plan on going anywhere not covered in hair.
