Update
I found out today that they hired someone "more qualified" for the position. I was told that they appreciate my contributions and how hard I work, but that seems a bit hollow. There was talk of better positions coming down the pipeline in a few weeks, but I'm not sure that I'm willing to stick around for a "might maybe." And while I was taken aside by three supervisors to encourage me not to be disappointed or upset, it seems quite insulting to say that while they recognize that I work my ass off for them, they think that someone else is better for that job.
That being said, I'm getting together my LR contacts to see if I can find a job down there. My team has until I find something down there to offer me this "step up" from what I was applying for. If I can find something similar or better in LR (or anywhere) I will be out of there so fast that they won't even see me.
I will be greatly in need of alcohol this weekend, I think, and also someone to cart my drunken ass around. FYI
