Yip-Yip-Yap!

Having a blast with this piece.
Continued from here.

While there is light here, I'm not sure it is an improvement.  The hallway has been trashed, like a gang of youths decided to make it their own place to display their art and prowess with chaos.  The light here is weak, I need to leave this place.  Somehow I convince myself the light will have answers and comfort.  It is enough to keep me moving through the hall, weaving between torn wallpaper, smashed in doors, and god knows what that is on the floor.  A cast a glance at a smear on the wall, it's red and stinks of copper.  I promise myself it must be paint.

Down the hall, turn the corner, towards the elevator.  I freeze.  There is someone else here, slumped against the silvery doors now adorned with more red smears and dents shaped like fists.  He is dirty, wearing baggy pants, boots, and a grimy white hoodie.  He has hung his head down between his legs, is he alive?  The hall reeks of horror, a lingering stench of something I'd rather not think about.  I take a step back, the stairs seem like a better choice.  I stumble over something in my haste, raising a clatter.

He looked up, my vision blurred for a moment, obscuring his face.  That isn't right, I can see his rat-like grin and his glowing golden eyes.  I shake my head, picking up the pace to the stairs as he droops his head again, returning my vision to normal.

Something is rotten in this city.  I can't wrap my mind around it, all I can do is move, seeking the light.  The light is safe...I hope.
