This morning there were drawings of penises in the hall perpendicular to mine. On signs, one on everyone's whiteboard, and a huge one on the wall in the stairwell. I hope they used dry erases marker on that one, too, otherwise... James thinks it must have been one of my neighbors because a guy wouldn't have had the guts to do that in a Scripps dorm. I don't know.
Service this morning was immensely irritating. It was a water ceremony thing where everyone added water that they had collected to a bowl and said their name and where the water was from. In theory. It was actually about an hour of people telling stories about their summers. More of an elementary "Here's what I did this summer vacation" thing raather than a spiritual ritual, or anything even remotely close to that. In addition, I'd say nearly half of the water was "symbolic" or "virtual" water, i.e. tap water. But whoever was adding it still wanted to tell about their summer vacation. I wanted to tell almost every single one of them to shut up with the story and just pour their water in. And the entire service itself had very little in the way of cohesion. Blah.
Back at my dorm, everyone had erased their whiteboard penises, and someone moved a nearby poster over the one on the stairwell, although you can still see part of it, and I know what it is..
So, time for more Environmental Studies reading about how we're ruining the earth and all.
