GIANT slugs

Eww eww eww... I feed stray cats on the porch outside my sister's house, but tonight, I ended up feeding slugs, too. So gross. I walked out there and there were two of the things chowing down. I ask you, since when do slugs eat cat food? Well, the cat wasn't there, so I didn't worry about it. I just stepped around the others on the porch.

But when I went out an hour or so later, there were four slugs sharing the bowl with the cat that lives under the neighbor's house. And at least half a dozen more were on their slow, slimy way there. Poor thing. I felt so bad for the cat that I picked the slugs out of the dish and moved it to the other end of the porch for her.

So this poor cat. She's so tiny. Half the size of Whiskey, of you can beleive it. And she's so skinny and unhealthy. My sister told me on the phone tonight that the neighbors across the street claim that she's their pet.... Despite the fact that she lives under the neighbor's house and eats at my sister's. Great owners, huh. I should get them on tape saying that. Then I could call animal control and have them arrested for cruelty. I imagine that there's a lot of that in this city, though. I've already seen a number of dogs chained in their yards and barking their heads off. Granted, I was walking Hershey past some of them, but still. It was a really sticky, humid morning. There's no way I would have left my sister's puffball of a dog outside in that weather.

By the way, Hershey is a mutt. He probably has some lab in him (he's got that pathetic expression), but other than that, it's anyone's guess. They should make Hersheys into a breed, though. He's adorable--fluffy, soft, chocolatey brown with a poofty tail and furry feet--and he has the sweetest disposition. All he wants to do is cuddle. My sister says he likes to spoon, and her friend calls him an attention whore. The only problem with him is that he's too dang furry. There are tumbleweeeds of fur in the house, and I've Swiffered twice since I got here Thursday. And I've brushed so much fur out of him. I'm collecting it in a trashbag to see in I can collect an amount larger than Hershey himself. Maybe I'll make a pillow out of it. Hehe. At any rate, it's bedtime for me.
